Engineer

The City Engineer performs engineering and technical services for city departments, including evaluating the city's infrastructure needs, developing and managing the City of Altoona's Capital Improvement Plan, reviewing projects proposed by developers, assuring compliance with the city's environmental permits for its landfill, storm water, water and sanitary sewer operations, and completes regulatory reporting as required.  The City Engineer also manages capital projects to completion including survey, design, contract administration, and construction management for streets, sidewalks, water main, sanitary sewer, storm water, and other public works projects.  Other responsibilities include management the city's right-of-way permit program, managing engineering consultant contracts, assisting the Finance Director in preparing special assessment materials, and responding to citizen concerns and complaints.
