Striving for Energy Independence
The City of Altoona is committed to doing its part for the environment. A couple of the measures it is currently taking include:
- Windmill powers leachate pump which moves liquid from landfill to sanitary sewer
- Dodge Charger deactivates 8 to 6 cylinders dependent on power demand
- Cyclone water heater is 96% efficient, fully condensing
- Solar energy powers flashing stop sign
