Improvement plans in the works for popular Eau Claire County park

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Eau Claire County's Parks & Forest Department said they are looking at possible upgrades to Lake Altoona Park.

Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Director Josh Pedersen said the county already knows the parking lot by the beach needs to be repaved, but they're also considering other projects. He said there's also room for improvement on the walk from the beach to the restrooms, which is fairly steep.

"We definitely feel that it is an asset to the Altoona and Eau Claire area," he said. "It is something that when people move to an area they look for places like Lake Altoona County Park so we want to make sure that we continue to keep those run and maintained as best as we can."

Pedersen said all of the plans are preliminary, and there is not a budget in mind yet. The department hopes to have a master plan to reveal by the end of the year.

Discussion will be held at the park on Saturday October 17 from 9 a.m. through 12:45 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend and share their ideas.
