Restaurant breaks ground in River Prairie development

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU)- Shovels hit the dirt today for a new restaurant in the Chippewa Valley.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Za51 in Altoona earlier today. The restaurant will be behind the Kwik Trip and across from the new Staybridge Inn and Suites off of River Prairie Drive. The owners of Draganetti's Ristorante and Taverna Grill in Eau Claire will own and operate Za51.

The restaurant will specialize in homemade pizza and feature an outdoor patio. Co-owner of Za51 Joanne Palzkill says the restaurant will be unique.

"We're going to do more of an open concept with cooking the pizza, something we haven't done before."

Construction on the new restaurant is expected to start later this month. Palzkill says she hopes the restaurant will be open by late June or early July of next year.
