Altoona Police host bike rodeo for local kids

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Altoona Police Department hosted a bike rodeo Tuesday at Altoona High School.

The course features a variety of bike safety activities and officers said the goal is to teach kids how to stay safe while biking on the road or sidewalk.

"Children knowing first of all to wear a bike helmet which is the most important thing and then also knowing using proper hand signals, knowing they may be seeing cars and other people, but sometimes being small, cars can't see them," Jon Lauscher, school resource officer with the Altoona Police Department, said to WEAU 13 News on Tuesday.
