Volunteers sought to fill board vacancies

ALTOONA, WI - Mayor Blackburn and the Altoona City Council invite you to serve your community by volunteering to be a member of a committee.  Citizens have opportunities to serve on any of the committees listed below:

• Ad Hoc Altoona Business Park Development Review Committee: meets as needed,  typically not more than one time per year >> duties and responsibilities.
• Altoona Community Development Committee: meets as needed, typically not more than one time per year.
• Altoona Housing Authority: meets the 2^nd Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. >> duties and responsibilities.
• Ad Hoc Knollwood Restrictive Covenant Review Committee: meets as needed, typically 1-2 times per year >> duties and responsibilities.
• Library Board: meets the 3^rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. >> duties and responsibilities.
• Parks & Recreation Committee: meets the 4^th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. >> duties and responsibilities.
• Plan Commission: meets the 2^nd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. >> duties and responsibilities.
• Police and Fire Commission: meets as needed, typically 4-6 times per year >> duties and responsibilities.
• Zoning Board of Appeals: meets as needed, typically 1-2 times per year >> duties and responsibilities.

No special knowledge is required, although background or interest in the business conducted by the committee is desired.  Members are expected to attend each meeting and there is some preparatory reading necessary.  Unexcused absences at two or more meetings annually may result in removal from a committee.
