ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Altoona City Council approves a mobile food pantry for less fortunate families in the city.

Thursday members gave the green light for the Compassion Coalition to use a city building as a distribution center.

The plan calls for the Coalition to receive a monthly supply of food from the Feed My People Food Bank.

Previously, nearly 100 Altoona families would go to Trinity Lutheran Church on Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire, the closest pantry to them.

Organizers hope to open the mobile food pantry next month.
