EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- After a public input meeting Wednesday, the Eau Claire Transit Commission is making its recommendation regarding expanded transit service to Altoona.

On February 9th, the Altoona City Council recommended a plan that includes modifying Route 17 to include a stop near Woodman's, modifying Route 4 to include a stop at Woodman's, and adding one hour per week to Route 17 on weekday evenings for commuters, as well as access to Woodman's.

Wednesday, February 15th, the Eau Claire Transit Commission agreed with the proposed changes to Route 17 but tabled the modification to Route 4.

"The one we did not further on right now because we want to do some more research would be any modifications to Route 4, which would possibly increase stops at Woodman's and ridership on that route," said Eau Claire Transit Supervisor Linder Benson.

The commission will now take the recommendation to the Eau Claire City Council.

If any route modifications are approved, Benson said the changes would be implemented on June 4th.
