Local radio station WHYS 96.3 FM is hosting its 11th annual WHYS Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Aug. 18, at Lake Altoona County Beach. This year's lineup includes the Georgia Rae Family Band, The Steamboat Bandits, Grassfed, Timbre Junction, Rock Creek Song Dogs, and U.K.E., among others.

This year, organizers are adding to the festivities by including more performances in the community from the bands featured at the festival. For example, The Georgia Rae Family Band will play at The Waterfront Bar in Menomonie on Aug. 16 and The Mousetrap in Eau Claire on Aug. 17.

Other bands also will perform around the area before the festival, so keep an eye on the WHYS website for more information. The festival will also include a kubb tournament for local players to show off their skills and learn from national and international experts.

Tickets are available for purchase online and in-person at Bomb Tacos in Chippewa Falls, Farm to Fork Retreat near Mondovi, Just Local Food and Acoustic Cafe in Eau Claire, and Lucette Brewing in Menomonie. For more information about the festival, visit whysradio.org.
