Altoona (WQOW) - Work is expected to start in a couple of weeks to lay the infrastructure for a major development in Altoona. Thursday night, the city council awarded a $2.6 million contract to Haas Sons Construction.
The plans unveiled this week call for mix of retail and commercial buildings, and a park area in the River Prairie development. Workers will now start to remove trees, and install water mains, storm and sanitary sewer lines, to serve the 50-acre site.
They will also add turn lanes to River Prairie Drive for access to the site and to the new Woodman's grocery store, which is currently under construction. Read more about this article »
