Administrative Office

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for operating and maintaining the city's parks, green spaces, and recreational facilities. Our primary function is to provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities and services to all age groups. The recreation programs serve both residents and non-residents. Our goal is to provide youth and adults of all ages an opportunity to participate in activities, meet new friends, learn teamwork and communication skills, develop new skills, instill respect for nature and our environment, and most of all, have fun when participating in our programs.

Pavilion, Marquee, & Recreation Facility Rental & Reservations

Shelters may be reserved for use by the community, up to one year in advance. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis after the reservation form and fee are received by the Altoona Parks & Recreation office.  To make your reservation, please visit the Parks & Recreation office located in the Emergency Services Building at 1904 Spooner Avenue, Altoona, WI or telephone by calling 715-839-5188.

Recreation Programs & Activities

The Recreation Department is responsible for offering community-wide leisure time programs for youth and adults. Two program brochures are distributed throughout the Altoona School District which outlines the recreation opportunities from the Parks and Recreation, school activities, and youth organizations.
