City of Altoona is seeking applicants for Aldermanic District 3 (Wards 4 and 5)

ALTOONA, WI - The City of Altoona is seeking applicants to fill a City Council position which will be vacated by Jon Olson effective April 30, 2024. The new council member, who will be appointed by the City Council, will serve until April, 2025.
Applicants must reside in Aldermanic District 3, Wards 4 & 5, which consists of the following legal descriptions:
Ward 4. Ward 4 shall consist of that portion of the city consisting of the attached Federal Census Blocks and as further described by the following legal description:
All of the City of Altoona commencing at the intersection of the west bound lane of US Highway 12 and 3rd St E, thence westerly along the west bound lane of US Highway 12 to its intersection with McCann Dr, thence northerly along McCann Dr to its intersection with Devney Dr, thence easterly along Devney Dr to its intersection with Thompson Dr, thence northerly along Thompson Dr to its intersection with Knollwood Tr, thence easterly along Knollwood Tr to its intersection with 3rd St E, thence northerly along 3rd St E to its intersection with Lawrence Ave, thence easterly along Lawrence Ave to its intersection with Sunset Ln, thence southerly along Sunset Ln to its intersection with Briar Ln, thence westerly along Briar Ln to its intersection with 3rd St E, thence southerly along 3rd St E to its intersection west bound lane of US Highway 12 and the point of beginning.
Ward 5. Ward 5 shall consist of that portion of the city consisting of the attached Federal Census Blocks and as further described by the following legal description:
All of the City of Altoona commencing at the intersection of the west bound lane of US Highway 12 and McCann Dr, thence northerly along McCann Dr to its intersection with Devney Dr, thence easterly along Devney Dr to its intersection with Thompson Dr, thence northerly along Thompson Dr to its intersection with Knollwood Tr, thence easterly along Knollwood Tr to its intersection with 3rd St E, thence northerly along 3rd St E to its intersection with Bartlett Ave, thence westerly along Bartlett Ave to its intersection with 10th St W, thence southerly along 10th St W to its intersection west bound lane of US Highway 12, thence easterly along the west bound lane of US Highway 12 to the point of beginning.
Interested citizens can check the City's Website at www.ci.altoona.wi.us under "Residents/Voter Registration and Elections" to confirm their Aldermanic District by viewing a map. Prospective citizens may also call Altoona City Hall at 715-839-6092 and provide their address to confirm which District they reside in.
All applicants must submit a letter of application and resume by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 to the Clerk's office at 1303 Lynn Avenue, Altoona, WI.
