ALTOONA, WI - Construction has commenced on a highway improvement project on County Highway KB/Bartlett Ave from the intersection of 3rd Street East to Walden Ct. This project is a cooperative effort between Eau Claire County and the City of Altoona.

Work on the project is expected to continue until 10/31/18. During project construction, County Highway KB/Bartlett Ave from the intersection of 3rd Street East to Walden Ct. will be closed to thru traffic but will be open to motorists accessing adjacent businesses or residences. A detour is set up to direct traffic around the construction area. Those wishing to access County Highway KB to the east of Walden Ct., including the Elementary School, should access those areas from the east via County Highway SS or Lake Rd.

In order to assure worksite safety, it is very important that only local traffic access the closed section. Local traffic is limited to vehicles needing to access homes or businesses located adjacent to the road closure. The Altoona Police Department will be monitoring the work area and may ticket non-local traffic.

The School District of Altoona has been notified of the project and the bus route to the Elementary School has been adjusted accordingly.

If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact the City of Altoona at (715) 839-6092 or visit the City's website at www.ci.altoona.wi.us for updates.
