Altoona holds ribbon-cutting ceremony for new playground

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- A ribbon-cutting was held Wednesday to celebrate a new playground at Devney Park in Altoona, and local kids didn't waste any time enjoying the new pieces.

Altoona City Planner Joshua Clements says this was the culmination of a five-year plan to improve the park.

Last year, the city applied for a grant to help build the playground.
Clements says this was the only playground in Altoona which had equipment replaced, but they have five other parks earmarked for improvements.

"Took us a little bit longer to get it done, but here we are. The kids are here enjoying it and we hope this will be a great facility for at least a generation," said Clements.
