Altoona, WI - The City of Altoona is excited to announce the visit of the Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 locomotive to Altoona on Tuesday, July 23rd. Train fans of all ages may view the world's largest steam engine at the Union Pacific yard adjacent to the 1400 Block of Spooner Avenue between the hours of 2 PM and 5 PM.

Union Pacific's historic Big Boy is touring the Union Pacific system in 2019 to commemorate the transcontinental railroad's 150th anniversary. The No. 4014 locomotive is the world's only operating Big Boy steam engine.

The Big Boy will arrive in Altoona from the east at 1 PM and a public viewing of the train and the Experience the Union Pacific Rail Car will be open from 2PM - 5PM. The 4014 will depart at 8AM on Wednesday, July 24th, headed to the east. On July 23rd, there will also be a public event in conjunction with the visit consisting of food trucks, ice cream, beverages, and souvenirs. Visitors are reminded to keep safety as their highest priority as the Big Boy will be stabled in a working train yard.
