Business is thriving in Altoona's River Prairie Park area

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Altoona's River Prairie area has seen big changes in the last several years and city officials say it's helping business in the area.

As of this summer, park development is complete according to Altoona City Administrator, Mike Golat. Since River Prairie Park opened it has evolved and become a hot spot in Altoona.

City officials say the community can expect growth to continue as plans to add additional elements are underway. Many say they are pleased with the development of the area. Nicole Olson is in town visiting from Arizona but grew up in the Chippewa Valley. She was excited to discover all the park has to offer. "It's awesome, I wish they would have had this when I was growing up here," she said.

City officials say the area's growth attracts a lot of traffic, strengthening business development. "The direct interaction with businesses down here has been real popular, you can sit on Cowboy's deck and watch a concert, we've got 44 North going up, ZA51 and even the apartments down here. People can just walk right out their door and be able to enjoy the park," said Golat.

He says business development continues to grow. Cabin Coffee shop is set to open on August 14th and 44 North, a large and family friendly bar and restaurant is expected to open in between September and October.
