Altoona (WQOW) - Altoona is kicking off summer fun with the 45th Cinder City Days.
Crews set up carnival rides in Altoona's Cinder City Park, and the fun began Thursday night. Events run all weekend long with different activities each day.
This year, some of the fun is moving outside of Cinder City Park, with events in River Prairie and the 10th Street Park. Organizers told News 18 this is a great way for families to have fun while doing some good.
"We do this as our largest fundraiser, and in doing that we can then take those proceeds and give it back to the community," said Lions Club member, Bradley Barth. "This is for Altoona. It gives us a way to show that we're hear for them, it gives us a way to show the community, hey let's have fun, let's have good time."
Barth also said, something that might draw a crowd, the "Diamond Rio" concert Saturday night in River Prairie. You can get more information and tickets for that event, and others here.
