Fire damages Altoona home

Altoona (WQOW) -

An Altoona home was heavily damaged by fire Monday afternoon.  Firefighters were called to a house in the 600 block of Harriet Street just after 1:00 PM. Smoke from the fire could been seen pouring from the house, and drifting across nearby Hastings Way, in Eau Claire. 

The owner of the home, who declined to give his name, said he was at work when the fire started, and he does not know what started it. He said no one was injured.  The Red Cross will assist the owner with temporary shelter.

Firefighters at the scene did not provide any other details.
