Altoona (WQOW) - An $18.5 million development in Altoona gets the green light.

The Altoona City Council gave final approval to Grace Lutheran Foundation to build its new $18.5 million health care facility.

It will be located between Highway 53 and North Willson Drive. It will house more than 50 long term beds and more than 40 short term rehabilitation beds.

The new development replaces the Syverson Lutheran home in downtown eau Claire. Leaders say they're not sure what will happen with the old Syverson facility once they move into the new building.

"It's always tough to leave your home in that aspect but this is the right move at the right time,' said CEO Mike Christensen. "You can't understand how exciting it is. Six months from now we'll be in the ground to build this building and it's going to be absolutely phenomenal."

The new facility is expected to be completed in June of 2016.
