Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager or Recreation Coordinator, the basketball supervisor will supervise the Altoona Parks & Recreation 5-on-5 Adult Basketball League.

Qualifications: A qualified candidate will be familar with the scoring of basketball and how to operate a scoreboard.

Program runs: Every Sunday night from 6 pm to 10 pm starting January 2019 through May, 2019.

Police Chief

The City of Altoona, population 7,490, located in West Central Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced and engaged law enforcement professional to lead the Altoona Police Department as its new Chief.

Altoona, which lies in heart of the Chippewa River Valley, has the feel of a small town, yet has all the amenities of a larger city, being directly adjacent to Eau Claire, WI, a regional retail and business hub and only 90 minutes away from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.

The School District of Altoona provides high-quality educational opportunities to its students and the District consistently produces students with above-average standardized test scores. Several excellent and affordable higher-education institutions, including the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley Technical College, are located nearby.

Altoona and the surrounding communities provide outstanding recreational and entertainment opportunities. The Chippewa Valley is home to a world class bike trail system, multiple venues for music, arts and festivals as well as beautiful lakes, rivers, public forests and golf courses. There are also a variety of affordable housing options available in the area for those that enjoy either urban or rural living.

Altoona invites applications from highly motivated, qualified and experienced public safety professionals with proven leadership, technical, and administrative skills to join its management team. The selected applicant will be responsible for leading the daily operations of Altoona's police department.

The ideal candidate will have broad experience in all aspects of municipal law enforcement, and preference will be given to applicants with leadership experience in police operations. For its next Police Chief, Altoona seeks a strong, innovative, and progressive leader with a collaborative management style who will engage employees through teamwork.

The position is becoming available due to the resignation of Altoona's current Chief of Police who has served the community admirably for the past five years; he is resigning to take another position. The new Chief will manage a budget of approximately $1.87 million and supervise fifteen (15) sworn police officers and two (1.5 FTE) administrative support professionals.

Starting salary range: $74,984 - $96,408 DOQ + excellent benefits
Any additional monies would require City Council approval.
