National Night Out is celebrated throughout the Chippewa Valley each August, the nationwide community-building campaign not only aiming to promote police-community partnerships, but neighborhood camaraderie. This year's Night Out, slated for Aug. 6, will also mark Eau Claire's 30th year putting on the event.

"The event is a chance for neighbors to meet and get better acquainted with the police and fire departments, and City Divisions that serve them, along with other civic groups in an effort to promote cooperative, police-community crime prevention, and healthy community efforts," a recent media release from the City of Eau Claire explained.

National Night Out in Carson Park will run 5:30-8pm, bringing more than 40 vendors, activities like Steve the Great's Magic Show, carnival games, and more to the park.
