Altoona (WQOW)- Altoona High School students spent Wednesday doing yard work in the community.
This is the second year the National Honor Society students gave back and raked and picked up leaves in Altoona.
High school student Maddi Gilmartin said the 18 students in the class divided up into six groups and cleaned up seven homes of residents who needed assistance.
Gilmartin said it feels good to be able to help out others in the community.
"It's important to give back to our community because our community has given so much to us in general, whether it be just having such an awesome school or being able to give back in different things like the referendum we just like to give back and get out here," Gilmartin said.
Gilmartin said it's been nice being able to meet the people they're helping out, and actually see the difference they're making.
