ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The River Prairie Development Project is in its final phase of completion and the City of Altoona held a party in the park to celebrate Saturday.

The event was family friendly fun. Altoona welcomed the public to a first-chance experience of what River Prairie Park has to offer. Kids enjoyed activities and free ice cream, while adults partook in food and free beer tastings.
City officials say this was a unique opportunity for Altoona to showcase this new community space for the first time. "Today is about highlighting the capabilities of the park. We have the craft show going on. We have a car show going on. We have food trucks and we are also highlighting the businesses within the park that have been our partners in investing", said Mike Golat, Altoona City Administrator.
The park sits next to River Prairie Center which has both indoor and outdoor spaces. The city is still working on completing an amphitheater, which will host concerts and other music events. Altoona's Mayor Pratt says he hopes to see the project fully completed by next spring. Read more about this article »
