Altoona Fire Department looks for more volunteer firefighters

CITY OF ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) An area fire department is hoping to fill some open volunteer positions soon.

Last month, the Altoona Fire Department put out a banner asking for volunteer firefighters and EMTs.

Friday Fire Chief Jesse James said since then they have received at least 20 applications.

On Monday they will sort through them. He says people who live within a ten minute response time will be considered.

Chief James is hoping to add at least 15 people.

He says right now the department only has 25 volunteers.
