City officials aren't trying to compete with surrounding farmers markets, but to be a nice addition. They plan to have the farmers market in the evenings for people to enjoy when they get off work.

"So this is another thing to add to programming and activating the space within River Prairie Park which people are really falling in love with," said Mike Golat, Altoona City Administrator.

It will start Monday, July 23rd from 4-7 p.m. at River Prairie Park and be held every Monday through the fall.
