City of Altoona is Seeking Volunteers to Participate in Copper & Lead Water Testing
Wednesday, July 24, 2024 City of Altoona staff
Water Testing Every year, in accordance with WI DNR requirements, the City of Altoona has worked with a select group of Altoona Water Utility customers to test for copper and lead.
Why is This Testing Important? Copper and lead testing in water is critical for ensuring safe drinking water and protecting public health. Both metals can leach into water from pipes and fixtures, posing serious health risks. These metals typically leach from plumbing materials and fixtures.
Seeking Additional Testing Sites Due to new WI DNR regulations, the City needs to add a few more testing sites to remain in compliance. If your home was built before 1983 and you have not replaced your interior water service lines, you can participate in the testing program. There is no cost to participate.
