More businesses coming to Altoona's River Prairie development

Altoona (WQOW) - More new businesses are coming to Altoona's growing River Prairie development.

The family that owns Taverna Grill and Dragonetti's Ristorante told News 18 they will be opening a new restaurant in the development, and hope to open it by next summer at the latest. The restaurant will share building space with a retail tenant, but they haven't decided on which business yet.

Ace Hardware will also open a new store, just west of the new Woodman's. The hardware store plans to move from their current location on Birch Street because of access and parking limitations. They hope to start construction during the spring of 2016.

Tuesday night, Altoona City Council plans to discuss what types of homes and businesses they would like to see in the remaining open space in the northwest River Prairie quadrant, and possible features of the new park planned for that area.
