2020 Pavement Replacement Program

Thursday, July 2, 2020
David Walter | Director of Public Works-City Engineer

The City has selected streets for the 2020 Pavement Replacement Program.  The contractor for the project, Monarch Paving, Inc., is drafting a proposed schedule.  While the specific schedule and sequence for the neighborhoods has not been submitted, the City asks that you remain aware of construction activity as construction equipment may arrive on short notice.  There will be no further notices sent by mail.  If you're interested in more frequent updates on construction progress, please email the City Engineer at davidw@ci.altoona.wi.us and request that you be added to the email list by including "pavement replacement" within the subject line or email.

Construction will consist of limited removal and replacement of deteriorated curb sections, removal and replacement of a small number of storm inlets, and removal and replacement of the asphaltic pavement.  The roadway will not be fully closed during these activities, but there will be limited times when traffic will be impeded.  The work zone will be posted NO PARKING during critical stages of construction and we ask that you park off the street until paving is complete.  The duration of the work is intended to be brief, and the City appreciates your patience.

New concrete curb & gutter should not be driven on for a minimum of seven days after it is poured.  This time permits the concrete to gain full strength so it can provide you with many years of service.

Links to maps of the selected street segments are listed below:

For more information about this project, please contact the Director of Public Works/City Engineer at davidw@ci.altoona.wi.us.  We look forward to working with you in the interest of a better street system for the City of Altoona.
