NOTICE | Fairfax Street Construction to Begin Monday, April 1, 2024

Fairfax Street reconstruction from Spooner Avenue to S Hastings Way is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2024. The contractor for the $3.18 million improvement project is Haas Sons, Inc. of Thorp, Wisconsin.

Construction on Fairfax Street will require closing of through traffic. Access to the businesses shall be maintained at all times.

Fairfax Street construction will include removal of the concrete surfaces, and construction of sanitary sewer and services, water main and services, storm sewer, new curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway approaches, concrete pavement, and boulevard restoration.

Biweekly meetings regarding the construction status will be held at the Fish House in the City of Altoona at 418 9th St W, Altoona WI 54720.  The first meeting will be held on March 27th at 2pm.

Fairfax Street construction is planned to be completed by August 10, 2024. Motorists can expect delays and congestion during construction.  Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional time to travel through Fairfax Street and to consider alternate routes when possible.
