Prevea, City of Altoona Announce Park Partnership and New Medical Office Building in River Prairie

Altoona - Prevea Health and city of Altoona leaders held a press conference on Oct. 26, 2018 to announce two new and important developments in the community: The Prevea Amphitheater at River Prairie Park and a new two-story, 30,500 square-foot medical office building in the River Prairie development area of Altoona.

During Friday's press conference, Altoona Mayor, Brendan Pratt, and Altoona City Manager, Mike Golat, announced a partnership between the city and Prevea that will provide funding for ongoing operations and maintenance at River Prairie Park, as well as additional community events, wellness initiatives and programming. Starting Jan. 1, 2019, as part of the partnership, the park's amphitheater will be officially named The Prevea Amphitheater at River Prairie Park. A sign, to be designed by a local business, will be displayed near the amphitheater upon completion.

"We are very excited to have Prevea in the City of Altoona and River Prairie, and look forward to a long-term partnership," said Mayor Pratt. "Their sponsorship of the amphitheater at River Prairie will go a long way in helping the city maintain and program River Prairie Park as well as promote healthy activities in our community."

Prevea Health, a multi-specialty health care organization founded in Green Bay, Wis. in 1996, expanded to Western Wisconsin in 2015. Today, it has locations in Altoona, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Menomonie, Arcadia, Augusta, Mondovi, Ladysmith, Rice Lake and Cornell. Prevea also partners with HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

Also at Friday's press conference, Dr. Rai announced construction has begun on a two-story, 30,500 square-foot medical office building on Woodman Drive in the River Prairie development area. The medical office building will be home to a variety of Prevea specialty health care services, including:

• Allergy
• Audiology
• Behavioral care
• Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
• Family medicine
• Infectious disease
• Mammography
• Neurology
• Pediatrics
• Physiatry
• Urgent Care
• Women's care
• Lab
• X-Ray

Environmentally-friendly practices will be used in the construction of the medical office building and will include the use of locally-sourced materials, energy-efficient lighting and low-flow plumbing. It is slated to open for patient care in fall 2019.
