ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Chippewa Valley Cremation Services is breaking ground on a new celebration of life center in Altoona.

The new facility will be at the former location of the Potting Shed Garden Center on Devney Drive. However, this facility will be a little different from other funeral homes, in that they will offer an upbeat area to celebrate the life of people instead of mourning them.

The facility will feature lots of lights and an outdoor garden feel.

"I think it really represents the changing minds of funeral service, people are really looking for a different avenue, besides a traditional funeral home. So, we're really trying to do more of a non-traditional funeral home, where you walk in the door and don't feel like you're in a funeral home: hopefully more bright, upbeat environment, that's what we're trying to provide here," said Owner Matt Thompson.

Thompson says the new facility will open October 1.
