Northwestern Bank's new River Prairie location in Altoona held a ribbon cutting and grand opening event Wednesday afternoon and highlighted the bank's local art exhibit.

Bank president Gerald Jacobson said local artists were invited to submit artwork, and all the art on display was purchased from those submissions.

There's currently more than 50 pieces of art on display from more than 20 local artists.

"All the artists are local from the Chippewa Valley and we plan on continuing to support the art in the Chippewa Valley and especially the youngsters. We are hoping to get all the local high schools to gradually over the years at different times have their art displayed," Northwestern Bank President Gerald Jacobson.

During the grand opening celebration, attendees were able to meet with some of the local artists to discuss their pieces.
