CITY OF ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- It's officially Fred "Fuzzy" Thurston week in the City of Altoona, after a unanimous city council vote Thursday night.

Thurston, who passed away in December, was an Altoona native and a Packers Hall of Famer.

The city is sending a frame to his family, with the text of the resolution.

Thurston played for the green and gold from 1959 to 1967 as an offensive lineman.

He helped the Packers win five NFL titles in the '60s under Coach Vince Lombardi.

In addition to having the week in his honor, the Altoona Athletic Field is named after Thurston, who had a lasting impact in the area.
